Overview
As well as helping to transform the lives of their students, great Christian educators positively impact the lives of pre-service teachers, beginning teachers, and other colleagues. With a focus on instructional coaching practices, this subject is intended for educators who want to further develop their God-given capacity to mentor, coach, and supervise other educators.
While this subject will be helpful to all educators aspiring to influence professional development and growth, it will be particularly relevant for those operating at the Highly Accomplished Teacher and Lead Teacher career stages, as well as those in (or preparing for) a leadership role within Christian schools.
There is growing demand for school leaders and teachers to be equipped as effective mentors and coaches, particularly those working with initial teacher education students. The role of mentoring and instructional coaching to facilitate educator professional growth is a demanding one in which there is little training for those mentoring / coaching. This subject is being developed as a response to these demands.

Learning outcomes
Student who successfully complete this subject will be able to:
- Demonstrate specialised knowledge of mentoring, coaching, and supervising in educational contexts.
- Critically analyse contemporary approaches to mentoring, coaching, and supervising on the basis of current research and biblical principles.
- Communicate biblically-informed principles and strategies for mentoring, coaching, and/or supervising in Christian education.
- Design a personal or school-wide approach to professional supervision in the Christian school.
- Critically reflect on professional identity and approaches to professional development.
