The National Institute for Christian Education is passionate about Christian education. It recognises that a majority of Christian educators in Australia are trained in undergraduate teacher training institutions that have an alternate worldview towards life, purpose, success, the nature of a child, the nature of the teacher and the nature of schooling. The National Institute believes it has an important role in providing ongoing postgraduate study in the distinctives of Christian education to all educators and school leaders in Christian schools and other contexts.
Vision
The National Institute strives to be a trusted thought-leader, fostering biblically informed scholarship that focusses on the formation of educators whose lives and practices are being transformed.
Through accessible and relevant postgraduate study pathways, opportunities to participate in creative and wisdom-informed research, and the production of thoughtful and high-quality publications, we equip and inspire educators—students and graduates—towards the flourishing of Christ-centred education.
Our vision will be achieved through strong and collaborative relationships that are
hope-filled, gracious, reflective, and respectful.
Purpose
The National Institute for Christian Education exists to support Christian Education National (CEN) and the broader Christian education community by fostering the formation of Christian educators. Through postgraduate scholarly engagement within an encouraging community of scholars, we cultivate reflective educators and leaders of learning communities, who see all of life through the lens of the biblical story and faithfully live out this perspective in their teaching and learning practices.
